My Month Of Joy! Ps30:11

May the Lord give joy to those we love.
So dirty is the earth,
So much tension is everywhere,
So many families are torn apart,
So much disappointment is normal,
That we live in fear, on edge.
Too much sadness surrounds us,
Too much lamentations overwhelm us,
Sometimes we feel useless, we feel out of control.
We are suffocated by tribal and verbal violence and all this robs us of our energy, our vigour, our zeal.
And we become a shadow of our former selves.
We may love our neighbour, but it is God who gives authentic love, he is the guarantor of joy.
And we can remember the story of the two brothers in the Bible.
Their father was a rich man.
The elder brother struggled to make his father happy, he worked hard to make his father’s job easier.
And the lazy younger one, claimed his inheritance and his father gave it to him.
He went off to live a life of debauchery.
After squandering his property, he became a slave, he could not even feed himself.
He was a servant and he couldn’t do what he wanted.
One day he decided to return to his father’s house, he was tired of this miserable life, but he had his parent who could help him.
This is the return of a son who comes back without a penny.
To his great surprise, he is welcomed by his father, he is honoured by his father, which provokes the jealousy of his elder brother.
The prodigal son was away for years and his father did not seek him out, but the Bible tells us that when this child made the decision to return to his father, he was returned to his father.
Unconditional love, free love, was established and happiness returned to the house.
The father organised a big party to celebrate the return of his lost son, to thank the Lord for his child’s new life, to rejoice and sing new songs to the glory of Jesus.
Returning home regenerates joy in the family and brings hope.
The Lord loves us, he is ready to accept us when we return to him, he is ready to hear us every time we ask him.
This is an open door that the Lord grants to a family, it brings back reconciliation, love, peace, joy and especially fellowship.
2 Timothy, 1:4 – remembering your tears, and desiring to see you so that I may be filled with joy,
Pray that the Lord will grant joy to those you love.
Paul writes to Timothy to better explain his responsibilities.
Paul encourages Timothy and offers his support for the continuation of the work.
Paul recognises the sacrifices of his beloved son Timothy and is so moved that he wants to see him again before his death to be grateful for his service.
So let us pray that the Lord will grant those we love a joyful heart.
