The fact that we are kings does not exempt us from the laws of the Lord.
We must be careful not to use our position and authority to break the established divine rules.
The Lord has divided the roles between his children,
each one of us has a responsibility and must make sure and reassure ourselves that we do not overstep our limits.
From the moment we want to take God’s place and forget that we are his servants, we also decide to step outside his covering and his love.
This is David, chosen and loved by God,
He was taken from behind his father’s sheep to be anointed king of all Israel.
The Lord was gracious to King David,
he strengthened his kingdom, he made his name great, he allowed him to conquer the territories and win.
Everything was going well until the day David was overcome by pride,
his status and reputation made him think he could do whatever he wanted and whatever he pleased.
When we believe ourselves to be accomplished and no longer need God to help us, the devil infiltrates us with negative thoughts that break our spiritual intimacy.
So David was seduced by his stability,
he ordered the forbidden,
He asked Joab, head of the army, and the chiefs of the people to go through all the tribes of Israel to count the number of the people and find out how many there were.
Joab was surprised by this decision and tried to dissuade King David, who insisted.
After nine months and twenty days, Joab handed the census over to David, who realised at that moment that he had committed a great sin before the face of God.
David’s order displeased God and he struck Israel.
David had acted completely foolishly.
David, you are king of Israel, but that doesn’t give you the right to break protocol,
it’s not you who sets the rules,
it’s not you who has the power to do it, there’s a tribe that’s been set up for this job.
What you have done is contemptuous, and the Lord will not let such a thing go unpunished.
The word of the Lord therefore came to Gad, the prophet, after David had humbled himself before the Lord to implore his mercy; he repented and begged the Lord to forgive him.
The prophet Gad is therefore the one in charge of coming to announce to David his punishment.
The Lord proposes three plagues from which David must choose and accept the consequences.
And this is where the passage of the day comes in: 2 Samuel, 24:14 – David said to Gad, “I am in great distress! Oh, let us fall into the hands of the Lord, for his mercies are great; but let me not fall into the hands of men.
Pray that God’s mercy will always prevail for you.
David knew immediately that he could not defy God,
he knows he cannot win this battle,
He takes off his hat of royalty and honour and repents.
He adopts an attitude of humility,
he falls on his knees and prostrates himself,
he acknowledges his guilt before his God,
he immediately repents his heart.
David cannot give himself up to men,
He knows that God alone is merciful and compassionate.
Yaweh looks into the heart and forgives, yet men are not loyal, honest and faithful.
Let God alone be the judge and his love will surely triumph.
Good day to you all
Good day to you all
