My Month Of Mercy! Lc1:50

We want to illustrate our teaching this morning with the story of King Asa.
The Bible tells us that Asa did what was good and right in the eyes of the Lord, his God.
He removed the altars of the stranger and the high places, he broke the statues and tore down the idols.
He commanded Judah to seek the LORD, the God of their fathers, and to keep the law and the commandments.
He removed the high places and the sun-images from all the cities of Judah. And the kingdom was at rest before him.
He built fortified cities in Judah; for the land was quiet and there was no war against him in those years, because the Lord gave him rest.
King Asa understood that for the Lord to act on his behalf, he first had to show his confidence and trust in God.
King Asa knew that working with God
you must not compromise yourself,
we must not bow down to foreign gods if we want God to help us.
Beloved, it is not possible to serve God and mammon.
We cannot say that we love God and then make an idol to worship.
Hosea 14:3 – The Assyrian will not save us, nor will we ride on horses, nor will we say to the work of our hands, Our God. For the fatherless has mercy on you.
Pray not to seek mercy from idols and false gods.
This text is a call to return to the Lord and see his promises fulfilled.
The Assyrian is a foreigner who has his own gods, so we must not ally ourselves with the sources that can suffocate us and return to implore the Lord’s mercy.
He is our support and our refuge.
From him comes rest and glory.
Let us remain faithful and connected to the Lord.
