We’re talking about rejoicing this morning.
The joy that something or someone brings us.
It’s not easy to be happy all the time, everything works to keep us under stress,
everything is set up so that sadness is always in our hearts.
But that’s not God’s plan for us,
The Lord wants us to be at peace and happy, whatever the circumstances.
We should also rejoice and be thankful to the Lord when his finger has worked.
The Samaritan woman met Jesus at the well.
Jesus is a Jew and the woman is a Samaritan.
According to the law, there is nothing between the two nations.
As the dialogue continues, the exchange becomes deeper and more serious.
The woman has come to fetch water from the well and Jesus offers her the water of life, eternal life.
Jesus explains to her the mistake we all make in coming to draw, dig, pull and lift what can be offered to us, the efforts we make in superstition to have salvation.
Jesus explains to him that, in fact, there’s nothing to draw on, it’s free, it’s grace, it’s rest.
The Lord offers her a new perspective on life and makes her understand that all she needs is a new covenant.
This is how the woman left everything behind to go and spread the word of God.
She sowed the true food of Jesus to the people of her town.
It was because she was touched that she became involved in evangelism,
It was because the Lord met him and transformed him that his story was written.
So let’s remember the story of the paralytic who was standing at the gate of the temple.
A miracle happened there, and it was in front of that door that Peter and John let the world know who their Saviour was and, at the same time, demonstrated to those present what can happen when we let Jesus work in us.
Peter healed the sick man and showed them that it is possible to rejoice with the Lord.
Everyone was astonished when the one who was a beggar and impotent yesterday was the one celebrating with those who thought they had more grace.
Is it possible to rejoice in the Lord? YES, WE CAN.
We have many opportunities to rejoice,
We may feel lonely, downcast, depressed or sick, but the Holy Spirit teaches us that joy is essential in the life of all God’s children.
Not to rejoice is a sin,
rejoicing is not optional.
To rejoice is not to have what we want or to be in a good mood,
it’s not about laughing or singing…
It’s about letting Jesus be the master of our lives.
Rejoicing is an act of faith.
And that’s what the Lord is telling us today in Philippians 4:4 – Rejoice in the Lord always; I repeat, rejoice.
Let not rejoicing depart from your dwelling place in the name of Jesus.
True joy is in the Lord.
It is the Lord who brings what we really need.
It’s up to us whether we want to come out of worry or let the joy and peace of the Lord fill us.
Good day to you all
Good day to you
