Doing God’s will and putting it into practice will require us to make sacrifices.
We cannot do what we want if the Lord is our shepherd.
So no matter how difficult the path, we must fix our eyes on Jesus.
And let’s also be aware that impatience doesn’t help us, it sometimes leads us to expose our true nature and to be proud.
Sometimes we are privileged and we think that this prestige gives us the right to go astray.
When things don’t go our way, we feel helpless,
we murmur,
we condemn all those who pay the price for our stability.
Every time we have disobeyed the Lord,
we have found ourselves in situations that have weakened us and sometimes taken our lives.
Ingratitude has prevented us from contemplating God’s greatness and submitting to it.
And here’s what the Bible has to say about this.
The Canaanite king of Arad, who lived in the south, heard that Israel was coming by the way of Atharim. He fought against Israel and took prisoners.
So Israel made a vow to the Lord, saying, “If you deliver this people into my hands, I will utterly destroy their cities.
The LORD heard the voice of Israel, and delivered up the Canaanites. They utterly destroyed them and their cities, and called the name of the place Hormah.
They went from Mount Hor by the way of the Red Sea, to go round the land of Edom. The people became impatient on the way,
And they spoke against God and against Moses, saying, Why have you brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? For there is no bread, and there is no water, and our soul is disgusted with this miserable food.
So the Lord sent fiery serpents against the people, and they bit the people, and many in Israel died.
The people came to Moses and said, “We have sinned, for we have spoken against the LORD and against you. Pray to the LORD to take these snakes away from us. Moses prayed for the people.
The LORD said to Moses, “Make yourself a fiery snake and put it on a pole; everyone who is bitten and looks at it will live.
Moses made a bronze snake and set it on a pole, and everyone who was bitten by a snake and looked at the bronze snake kept his life.
Here was a people in a dry place, with no life, no landmarks, who lacked nothing, at least they had enough to eat, but they complained all the same.
God struck them because of this attitude and many lost their lives.
The Lord in his compassion used the snake that came with death to give life again.
All those who disobeyed and ended up with a snakebite could look at the snake placed on a pole.
It’s not for everyone, but you have to obey.
It may be a trite instruction but it’s what God said.
If we want to have our healing and our rest, let’s keep our eyes fixed on Jesus.
It is obedience that triggers healing.
Psalms, 119:67 – Before I was afflicted, I was afraid; now I obey your word.
Pray for complete obedience of God’s word.
Until we are in a situation of frustration, we will always think that we rule over others.
It’s time to come back to the Lord,
it’s time to let God’s word fill us.
It is obedience to God’s word that gives life.
