If we want to talk about humility this morning,
let us stop in the house of the poor, the needy, the beggars.
They are people who know how to listen, they are always available to serve and help.
They know how to swallow their pride and give respect.
But the humility of these people is not to be qualified as an example because in another context, they could be different, it is the pressure of life which obliges them to submit.
As far as we are concerned, the Lord wants to teach us another key that triggers recognition: it is *humility*
We are not talking about the humility that people do to make themselves loved and accepted, nor are we talking about the sessions of hypocrisy that we offer in the midst of the authorities yet we disagree.
We talk about the character of God, his lifestyle, his daily life.
To illustrate this, we want to talk about Joseph, of whom we do not speak much, the husband of Mary, the father of Jesus.
At that time, men married virgin women, the Holy Spirit descended on Mary and she became pregnant.
Joseph had not known him, the gaze of society would condemn them, infidelities could be thought.
The Bible specifies that Joseph was a good man and instead of making noise, of exposing his fiancée who had betrayed him, humiliated him, he thought of separating from her secretly and discreetly.
He was beyond all sensitive to what might happen if the world learned of this news from Mary.
Mary, herself accepted the will of God, just imagine how she was treated, rejected, slandered, despised, broken, she could even be stoned.
They surely lost their friends and their reputation took a hit, but she decided to remain faithful to the Lord.
After the death of their husbands, Naomie sends Ruth and Orpa away.
But Ruth finds that she cannot abandon her mother-in-law, that she must leave everything to stay at Naomie’s feet, to listen to her, to serve her and to obey her.
For pleasing God, we must cultivate humility, put aside arrogance.
David remained humble yet he was already anointed king, he continued to honor Saul despite his manipulations and remained the servant.
Humility is no longer our cup of tea, we like first places, we like bows and we never want to give any.
We love pretensions, appearances, superiority, always belittling others to dominate and reign.
The Lord is waiting for us with another formula that he strongly asks us to apply.
1 Peter 5:6 – Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time;
Pray to always have humility as an attribute.
Depend on God, it is he who raises at the time chosen by himself.
Lower ourselves, humility leads to honor.
Lord push us to humble ourselves, we are so weak and we need to return to you to copy this nature.
Hello
Good day
