Merry Christmas to us all!
The Lord is just wonderful,
it’s a day of celebration,
a day when all the families come together to share a meal and be reconciled.
No work on this day,
just festivities.
So the Lord has chosen this day to tell us that he is giving us rest.
How glorious is that kind of blessing on this day?
Many are weary from life’s knocks,
Many are discouraged,
Many have lost their joy and peace,
But the Bible tells us that if we return to Jesus, all of us who are weary and burdened, he will give us rest.
This is to say that rest
is not sleeping,
it’s not lazing around,
it’s not going on a trip, but it’s a gift from heaven.
By rest, the Lord means
stability,
assurance.
David was a man of war,
his hands were full of blood and he was disqualified from building God’s temple.
He kept his enemies at bay and strengthened his throne.
When he died, his son Solomon, who was his successor, was at rest,
no war,
no attack,
no fighting, because his father had paid the price for his son to enter into rest.
Rest is a grace from God,
it’s a gift, so if we don’t know how to deal with situations that upset us,
we will sink.
The Lord wants to give us rest first,
He wants to relieve us of everything that weighs us down and tires us.
Rest is not a state of carelessness or negligence… the rest that the Lord is talking about this morning is peace and tranquillity.
Matthew 11:28 – Come to me, all you who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest.
Praise the Lord who gives you rest.
Let us experience the words of this verse.
It is the Lord who leads us,
who speaks to us,
who comforts us,
who makes us happy.
Rest does not mean that there are no difficult moments, but let us know that the Lord is with us no matter how strong the wind.
It is our encounter with God that delivers us from our burdens.
Let’s leave behind the pressures of the world and take refuge in God’s welcoming arms.
He wants to lighten our load,
he wants joy and peace to remain with us, but we must take a step of faith,
we have to say yes,
we have to say yes to his help,
we have to agree to hand over all our troubles to him.
It’s up to him to deal with it all.
Thank you Lord
Good day to you all
Have a nice day
