After Elijah had slaughtered all the prophets of Baal, Ahab reported to Jezebel all that Elijah had done and how he had killed all the prophets with the sword.
Jezebel sent a messenger to tell Elijah that she would have him killed too.
Elijah, an anointed prophet of fire, was panicked by Jezebel’s message.
A voice made a prophet of that stature tremble,
A voice made Elijah change direction and vision.
We understand that a voice, a message or a word can put a person, whatever their status, in a position of panic and doubt.
And Elijah fled with all his grace, all his energy, all his charisma.
We’re talking about a prophet who releases a word and it is fulfilled as he said it would be.
But in a moment of weakness, Jezebel, who is not a child of God, managed to lock him up in the desert until Elijah felt vulnerable.
He began to doubt his abilities,
he began to complain until he asked to die.
What interests us this morning is that after walking for forty days and forty nights, he entered a cave at Horeb and the Lord came to meet him.
*What are you doing here, Elijah?
A question that the Lord asks us all when we are threatened and distressed by challenges.
Are we in our place when the storm rises and we have to go out and evangelise?
Do we abandon God’s work when obstacles arise?
What do we do when our enemies go to war against us?
Have we fled like Elijah in the face of trials?
Have we become afraid and doubted our El Elyon?
In this situation, Elijah forgot that the Word of God says that they will wage war against us, but they will not defeat us.
God is our security; no hiding place can protect us like the hand of God.
Nothing can harm us, no matter how great the situation.
The Lord will get us out and deliver us.
We must be like David, in the midst of the storm unleashed by men against him, he had a certainty.
No refuge could be like the immovable rock of the Lord.
Have we built on Christ or on the banalities of the world?
God is our sure refuge, let us take refuge with him and implore his deliverance.
Beloved, to come out of our distress we must not only beg for help but we must be submissive and trusting.
2 Samuel, 22:2 – He said, “The Lord is my rock, my fortress, my deliverer.
Make the Lord alone your fortress.
God is our safe place when we need protection from something.
We need not fear situations or people that threaten our well-being.
No situation we face is beyond God’s control, so the best place to be, always, is with him.
But how can we make God our fortress?
Let’s get to work…
Hello brothers and sisters
Good day to you
