Lord, you know!
You master your thing,
We take the hat off to you.
You know how to surprise us and tell us about the real and everyday things in life.
You know how to draw our attention to details of our lives that we neglect to please the flesh.
Several times we have missed the path.
On many occasions, we have twisted our destinies.
We met bad people, we ended up in bad places,
we have clung to bad relationships and here we are, lost, perplexed, helpless, disappointed.
We have never been able to discern which ones we need and which ones are there to divide and withdraw us.
So much, the vagueness has invaded us that we have no reference points, the people around us are masked that we no longer know what to do.
Oh Lord, we need you, help us.
We are chasing the world that stole our values from us, we are in church but we are so selfish, distant, suspicious.
We are not involved in the life of others, we are not vulnerable, nor open to supporting our neighbor even with prayer.
We do not dialogue, we do not communicate, we do not greet each other and we speak of love and fraternal communion.
Lord, our hearts are so dirty, full of calculations.
We do not make friends for love but for interest, everything depends on our influence, our social status, our wealth.
Respect is acquired based on what our eyes see.
It’s hard to see a rich man encumber himself with the friendship of a poor man who brings him nothing, it’s hard to see a rich uncle agree to help the family without humiliating him and reassuring himself that he dominates it and tramples it.
It’s a shame for us who focus on the physical details to befriend others.
Many are our friends who are the terrestrial extras, vampires who conspire against us, they sit with us but they are the ones who tie up the evil, we call them at the slightest opportunity with love yet they hate us deeply.
The word of God gives us a plan of friendship to copy.
David and Jonathan in the book of Samuel.
Jonathan was heir to the throne from his father Saul, but it was not God’s will and he knew it and did not want David whom Samuel had anointed as king.
Jonathan was not selfish, nor seduced by riches and power like Saul.
Several times Saul wanted to kill David but his son Jonathan intervened because his friendship for David was pure, genuine.
Jonathan was ready to give his life for his friend whom he loved as himself.
Let’s stop our sneaky friendships with people who don’t keep their words, who never say yes or no but disturb with maybe, uncertain people who poison our lives.
Let’s have reliable and stable friends.
Jesus said that there is no greater love than to lay down your life for your friends, let’s become friends of Jesus, put our trust in him, let’s have the same thoughts.
It is not good that the man is alone, we are social beings, we need friends.
Not all friendships are the same, which is why we must act prudently.
Friendship has an influence on us, be careful not to have mockers and rebels to the word of God as friends.
Proverbs, 14:20 – A poor man is hateful even to his friend, but the rich man’s friends are many.
Pray to know your real friends.
The poor do not value what they have, they are not honored and respected by those who are rich.
It is not considered at its fair value, it is reduced.
And it is not of this friendship that the Lord speaks of.
If two friends are not looking in the same direction, what will they share together?
Is this what we call a friendship?
The Lord invites us to review our address book and to deal with righteous and upright people.
