My Month Of Progress! Luke1:49

We are on your altar this morning to open our hearts to you,
We are here to tell you our truth,
We humble ourselves at your feet because we are ashamed of what we will say today but we want to confess.
Lord, we say we love you with our lips but you are not our first love.
Loving is accompanied by giving but we do not give you a place of honor in our lives, you are not the one who saturates our thoughts, you are not our all in all, we are not whole with you, we always want to go down to Egypt, we always want to tap into the world, we want to copy the clichés from outside and assert our interests first.
Lord, forgive us, have mercy on us.
We show the world that we serve you, but we serve ourselves.
A disciple of Jesus asked him to let him first go and bury his father before returning.
Naturally, going to bury one’s parent is good, it is our duty, but we cannot let life go to follow death, it is Jesus Christ that we must first follow regardless of the circumstances.
We have cluttered our minds too much with vain things, our thoughts are filled with uselessness so that our first love feels cramped, he feels suffocated, we force him to share his throne but let us know where he is prioritized and honored, where he puts himself aside.
We have to know what we want, we have to know where our interests are, we cannot run the risk of exposing ourselves to the curse.
And that’s what the widow of Zarephath did.
The prophet Elijah is sent to her home to be fed and unfortunately, he finds the widow in trouble, she has a challenge on her hand and no longer knows how to deal with the famine which is ready to take them away with her son.
Elie, instead of sympathizing with this mother’s pain, instead of sympathizing with her distress, he asks the widow to give him the honor of eating first.
But Elie, it’s his last meal, how can you ask for that kind of thing?
What kind of a prophet is that?
He is a principal!
Shall we say.
Our human heart must have whispered well.
But Elie did not look at his anguish or his imminent death.
But the widow silenced her emotions and she obeyed, she connected to the spiritual, she understood that it is appropriate that she think first of the Lord, of his interests, of his service, she understood that she had to sacrifice on God’s altar first if she wanted to be blessed.
God wants to be honored, he wants the best part, he refuses the superfluous.
Let us think about what we want, believe in what we want, it is first necessary that Jesus is satisfied so that we have our blessing.
Let us know, the things of the spirit always come before ourselves and our interests.
Another story catches our attention.
In Luke 5, Jesus was near the lake, fishermen were washing their nets to go home.
Jesus borrowed Simon’s boat and from there he taught the crowd.
He did spiritual things in that boat, and when he finished his service he asked Simon to go into deep water and cast his nets.
Simon, tired of having worked all night without result, obeyed his word and caught a large quantity of fish so that the net broke.
Beloved, the things of the spirit trigger the natural things, the spiritual calls and commands the physical.
If we refuse to put the things of the kingdom of God first, we will always be lame.
1 Timothy, 4:15 – Take care of these things, give yourself entirely to them, that your progress may be evident to all.
Make the things of the kingdom of God a priority.
Here is a warning from Paul to Timothy.
It is valid for all of us, let us open our hearts and minds to the word of God to build us up, to strengthen us, and to establish us permanently.
Let us submit to the word, let it have power over our thoughts, let it influence our words and propel our actions.
When the word of God is the supreme authority of our lives, our progress will be evident.
Lord, help us.
May your service become our concern, our only pursuit, the work of our life.
Let us dedicate ourselves to the work of God and be blessed.
