If someone tells us that he does not have an Ahithophel in his life, we certainly cry out in astonishment.
Achitophel is our man of confidence, he is our joker, our safe card, he is our first and our best adviser, he is the one on whom we rely, he is a person who stands out when the sea is roaring, it is someone close to us and we are ready to listen to them come hell or high water.
Ahithophel is a faithful friend, he is like those around us who look good.
Ahithophel was the king’s henchman but he still positioned himself against King David.
Achitophel is the one who reassures us and gives us the peace we need, but these are only illusions.
Achitophel means brother of madness, foolish.
How can David be reassured alongside a man of the world who can only betray him?
In reality, the spirit of Achitophel is opposed to that of David who is attached to God, to the commandments of the Eternal, they do not have the same vision.
Everyone knows Achitophel in our circles and in our families, he is renowned for his sagacity but in his cunning, encourages division, revolt, he is always ready to turn around.
Achitophel wants to be seen, listened to, honoured, respected but without his false clichés, his subtlety, he looks like a peacemaker.
Let’s stop pretending, let’s stop acting as if we want peace between Israel and Palestine, to make people believe our false visions of love, of illusory peace, to put pressure on us that ultimately satisfy our interests.
Achitophel likes conflicts, confusions, conspiracies, he has nothing good in him.
But in another case, we have Jonathan, the son of King Saul, a son of integrity, who will not let his father corrupt his loyalty.
Saul is the king but he is jealous of his henchman.
David overthrew the giant Goliath who paralyzed all of Israel.
David is very popular, he is a man of war who does not shrink from his enemies, he is loved by men and by God, but the king wants to see him dead.
Despite all the opportunities David had to kill King Saul, he remained in his position as a servant.
Jonathan tries to bring his Father to his senses without success.
Jonathan wants love and peace, he is aware that he is not the heir to the throne after his father, allies himself with David and makes an alliance with him for his posterity.
Jonathan knows the meaning of friendship, he knows how to encourage David in difficult times, he is ready to sacrifice everything to preserve his friend’s life.
Here are two different personalities, on which side do we position ourselves?
Are we faithful in love and friendship?
Do we like to see the serenity and tranquility around us or are we those who are always doing dirty tricks to destabilize others?
In any case, the Lord gives us advice, that of becoming a peacemaker.
We can be, it is not late, our Jesus is called shalom, the one who gives and leaves peace.
He can teach us to follow in his footsteps, he can change our identity and give us a fresh anointing.
Invest yourself in becoming a peacemaker.
James, 3:18 – The fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who seek peace.
Sowers of justice have a peaceful character. This fruit exposes and suppresses the bitter quarrels and bitter disputes which divided the church.
Let us be peace seekers, love peace and receive the peace the Lord has left us with.
In the peace of Christ.
Have a good day
