Let’s talk about Herod and his pride this morning.
Herod was a king of Judea when Jesus was born.
The margins have come from afar to adore the child who is born and give him gifts because he is the King of the Jews.
Herod is not happy with this news, he does not want to be overshadowed during his reign, he wants to be the one who always attracts attention.
Subtly he wants to bribe the margins to give him all the information regarding the messiah but the angels intervene and warn the margins of what Herod wants to do.
Herod is full of pride, he likes to give himself glory, he believes himself to be God, he wants to take the place of the Father.
This is how in a ceremony, he promised a young girl who danced well everything she wanted even half of her kingdom, he was ready to offer everything just for a moment of pleasure.
Taking the opportunity to settle his account for having been criticized by Jean, the young girl’s mother wants as a reward for her daughter the head of Jean baptiste on a platter.
John is killed coldly and cruelly by a Herod imbued with his person.
He could not back down, nor change his mind when the promise had already been declared very loudly.
Against his conscience, Herod is forced to keep his word if he still wants to be acclaimed and honored.
His pride takes over and he orders that Jean Baptist be beheaded, unjustly accused and imprisoned only to please the people and the little girl who has shaken up a lot.
To change your mind is to belittle yourself, it is to correct yourself, it is even to throw yourself at the feet of the one we have offended and it is an attitude that the proud hate, it bothers them enormously.
Fight pride with anger.
Pride opens the door to crime.
We can be wrong, we can make mistakes, and when our conscience reacts, let’s not close our hearts, humble ourselves, change our attitude.
We so want to reign,
we want to be appreciated,
we like to look down on others but simply because we don’t know that it’s the prostitute who bothers us.
She likes to dominate and crush others like Jezebel, she wants to be served and she believes that she has all the power over others.
Let us only cry out to God to deliver us from pride and give us a humble heart. Give us, Lord, to have a heart of love.
Pride brings us back to the rank of fools and this aim makes us look ridiculous.
Proverbs, 11:2 – When comes pride, comes also shame; But wisdom is with the humble.
Pray to avoid being proud.
This vice which is pride is accompanied by shame, dishonor, disgrace.
The proud does not know how to stop, it is always with exaggeration that he behaves.
The humble are the winners, winners.
They know their limit and know that they need God to sit in high places.
Lord, on this day, we are still under your feet to beg you to diminish us, to break us, to belittle us and above all to evacuate all the bad deposits in us.
Thank you Jesus!
hello to us
Have a good day
