My Month Of Gifts! Ps37:4

We’re talking about the discretion of almsgiving this morning.
Almsgiving is a gift, a financial support given to the poor, to the destitute who have done nothing in return to deserve this gift.
We need to know that every almsgiving done discreetly is a seed sown on good soil that will produce an abundant harvest and will always attract a reward.
The Bible tells us about Tabitha who is Dorcas, this widow was renowned for her good works and her almsgiving, she looked after widows and orphans, she gave them food and clothes.
She made others happy, and when death struck her, all the women surrounded her, weeping as they testified to her love for them.
Cornelius, too, was a pagan who did good deeds around him.
The Word of God tells us that one day the Lord sent an angel to tell him that his prayers and alms had gone up before God, and he remembered them.
Let’s remember that our alms are not only given to those in need, but also go up to heaven before God, because it’s a mark of selfless love.
We don’t need to do good deeds to look good or to give the impression that we are good people.
We want our good deeds to be recognised, the Lord does not refuse this, but he wants us to understand that the best recognition comes from him.
Let’s not be like those Pharisees who always want to be seen,
They are fond of recognition and appreciation.
What we mean is that when our heart is innocent and pure in our giving, the Lord is satisfied like the woman who gave only her few coins.
Matthew, 6:2 – When you give alms, therefore, do not sound a trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, so that they may be glorified by men. Truly I tell you, they receive their reward.
Avoid publicizing your acts of aims giving.
The Lord just wants us to understand that there is nothing spiritual about these passionate gestures, that they do nothing for God because we are doing them for our own glory.
The Lord is waiting for us to be more mature and for our eyes to be lifted up to him.
