Lord, we bless you.
Lord, we glorify you.
You are worthy of glory.
Our hearts exalt you
our mouths praise you, our thoughts are submissive to your word.
Thank you for offering us mercy in this month,
Thank you for forgiving our lightness.
At every moment, we never cease to benefit from your indulgence.
When we look at Jonah’s behaviour, we recognise ourselves in his actions.
Jonah is the servant God chose to evangelise Nineveh.
Lord, you entrusted Jonah with a mission,
he did as he wished, he disobeyed,
he rebelled.
The Bible tells us that Jonah fled to Tarshish,
he got everyone he travelled with into trouble,
All those who boarded the ship with him were shaken violently by a strong storm because Jonah deliberately refused to follow the Lord’s vision.
Obliged to throw Jonah into the sea to save lives, a great fish swallowed him up and it was in the belly of this fish that the man of God repented and the fish vomited him out under the command of the Lord and into Nineveh.
Nineveh was a city that lived in abominations and idolatry but the Lord in his compassion needed a vessel to go and warn this perverse people, he wanted to use Jonah to evangelise a whole city otherwise it would be destroyed.
While Jonah was spreading the word to this people,
The Lord, in his infinite goodness, decided to forget Nineveh’s sins.
For Jonah, God had to strike down Nineveh, which was too rebellious and unbelieving.
Instead, the Lord wiped out all their imperfections.
Do we see how God works?
Do we understand that the Lord is always ready to welcome us and do us good?
So that’s the magic of mercy, granting us forgiveness and love even in our dirt.
Mercy gives us the right to joy, peace and hope…
And that’s also what the Lord wants us to integrate today.
We all need the Lord to appease us, to remove from us the reproach of the curse.
Luke, 1:78 – Thanks be to the bowels of our God’s mercy, By virtue of which the rising sun has visited us from on high,
Thank the Lord for the fruits of his mercy in your life.
Bringing a dead child back to life,
To heal someone who has been sick for 38 years,
Freeing captives and the needy from spiritual blindness is the work of mercy.
Let us not think that mercy is an obligation; it all depends on God.
So let’s take advantage of this month to be reconciled with the Lord.
Good morning
Good day to you
