Very often, when faced with the Goliaths of our lives, we think that everything is over, we see only frustration because we have no way out, the ordeal before us will extinguish us.
We are rejected by everyone,
We have no support from anyone, not even our families,
Our verdict is known,
Everyone is impressed by the experience, by the strength, by the reputation of our adversary.
We are all seduced by the sight,
by the gathering of the giant who attacks us.
He is tall,
He is strong,
He is brave and daring, but we forget one thing: our enemy has only the safety of men,
he has only the protection of the world,
he is not a child of God,
he has no covenant with the Lord.
All he knows is that he has the support of everyone, and that is his strength,
He knows that everyone fears him and that’s an asset.
Goliath is the strong man who intimidates us,
Goliath is the evil spirit who challenges us,
Goliath is the mountain that rises up before us.
Goliath comes with threats, blackmail, bluff, pressure and it is on this that he erects his glory.
Goliath can frighten us all our lives but we must know that he represents the world which is empty, vain, ephemeral.
Goliath is looking for someone bold, someone brave like him to confront him.
David is nobody, he is not known.
To everyone he is a child, but God has formed him in secret.
Israel knows only that he is a shepherd, but the Bible tells us that the stone rejected by men has become the main one, and this is the case with the psalmist, who is the only one of his people to know the covenant he is working on,
His faith and trust in the God he serves are unshakeable.
David is attached to the Lord and obeys the strategies the Lord gives him for this type of battle.
David knows that he is overlooked by everyone, but when God gives an instruction, it must be obeyed.
Beloved, this is not a story about tools of war,
nor is it about what our eyes see,
it is the kingdom of God that is at stake,
the honour of the Lord is at stake.
So everything is put in place to make God’s glory explode.
David does not need the weapons of war,
he needs the Lord of hosts.
He wants his covenant to speak for him,
he wants God to defend him and fight for him.
David makes his position official.
1 Samuel, 17:47 – And all this multitude will know that it is not by sword or spear that the Lord saves. For the victory belongs to the Lord. And he delivers you into our hands.
Bless the Almighty who is the owner of all victory.
The Lord does not need all these methods of warfare,
We who think that it is when we are equipped that we surely have victory are wrong.
We who believe that it is by having all sorts of methods of warfare and being ready that we will celebrate victory,
This is truly human thinking.
The Lord doesn’t need all that to protect and defend us.
Victory belongs to him,
He is the victory.
And we who are his inherit that victory from him.
Lord, you are wonderful.
The honour is all yours.
Blessed art thou, Father.
Good day to you all
Good day to you all
