When the Lord speaks of retrograde
he wants to warn us about the way we behave and we don’t even realise that we have already left the stage.
Backsliding is moving away from God instead of towards him.
It is a person who was devoted to God but who has returned to his old ways.
It is a person who has stopped going to church,
It is also a person who even goes to worship but has lost zeal for God’s work,
it’s a cold person…
Many have fallen because they have no roots,
they are Christians for a time but their hearts are not consecrated to God.
Some go to church, read the Word of God, like to listen to Christian music, like to associate with Christians, but their hearts are not transformed,
they are not born again.
Lack of knowledge can also make us go backwards.
Peter loved Jesus and was sincere when he promised the Master that he would defend him whatever happened.
He thought that given his age and his responsibility for the church, he could also contribute to the Lord, but he did not know his own weakness.
Peter was generous but he had forgotten that he depended on the master and that his stability depended on his ability to go deep.
He tore off an ear trying to protect Jesus; he claimed to die for Jesus, yet it was Jesus who had to die for him and for everyone else to save us.
Jesus warned Peter that he would be demoted, but Peter did not believe him.
When the time came and Jesus had been arrested, Peter was recognised by many as a disciple of Jesus, but he did not hesitate to deny him in order to protect himself.
Even though he had walked with the Lord for three years.
Having seen his miracles and heard his warnings, Peter repudiated his master in front of a little servant girl just a few hours after swearing loyalty to him until death.
It’s enough to make you weep.
Fear of men and too much self-confidence got the better of the bravery of the great Peter, the spokesman for the disciples.
Peter let go of Jesus in front of everyone and realised later that he had done something despicable.
And he repented,
he converted,
he strengthened the others.
Beloved, if Jesus is not the head of the corner, we will always turn back when the obstacle presents itself before us.
That’s why we must let Jesus help us on our way.
1 John, 5:20 – And we know that the Son of God has come, and has given us understanding to know the truth; and we are in the truth in his Son Jesus Christ.
Fast and pray to rebuke every backsilder spirit working against your life.
The coming of the Lord was also so that we would have the discernment to identify the good part which is Jesus,
to be the light wherever we are, our identity is hidden in Jesus.
The true
is the word of God, it is Jesus,
it’s our heritage.
