When we read the story of David in the bible, we can see that this young gentleman was an arrogant, pretentious, proud, zealous boy.
When he arrived on the field of war to come and see if his brothers were okay, he stepped in to ask if there was any reward attached to the victory over Goliath,
His attitude towards his brother who is worried about him tells us a lot about the behavior of this child.
Although this young man had potential and abilities, he did not know how to manage his new star status.
And when people started to celebrate him, to give him more glory than the king, his pride swelled again but he recovered afterwards.
David had been anointed several times to be King of Israel, but Saul was on the throne.
David was aware that he was the next king although the reign was still in Saul’s hands,
David had the revelation of his kingship and knew that Saul wanted his life,
David was a valiant man, a warrior who mastered the field of war but he had forbidden himself to take justice, he had the opportunity to kill Saul several times but he could not harm the anointed of L ‘ Eternal.
David always had a place of servant to Saul regardless of his strength, influence, and reputation.
David knew how to make himself very small, he knew how to step aside to make way for King Saul.
He knew how to respect the divine instruction which tells us that humility precedes glory.
Humility is a fruit of the spirit, it is a character of God.
Elisha understood, he stayed close to Elijah even when he knew that Elijah had to be taken away, he remained under his leadership and his humility earned him Elijah’s mantle, the double portion.
Pride poisons the soul, God hates this vice.
Pride is the rotten part of us, it makes us think that we are superior to others, it makes us believe that others have no real value.
Pride blinds us and makes us insensitive to education.
In 2 Corinthians, 12: 7 – And so that I should not be puffed up, because of the excellence of these revelations, there was put me a thorn in the flesh, an angel of Satan to blow me and prevent me from being proud.
Pray to keep being humble after receiving revelations.
Glory can lead us into excess of pride and independence from God.
We no longer have time when everything is going well, when we believe we have the means for our policy, we keep God waiting.
Paul did not want to elevate himself, he wanted to let himself be uplifted in humility so that his ministry could progress and flourish.
Paul had a pride problem and to fix it God had to inflict pain on him to break it.
Paul was very honored and respected by the people and Satan wanted to affect his anointing and his grace, that’s why he put this thorn in the flesh to silence his pride.
It is God who has chosen to trust us and to deposit the gifts and talents in us so be careful not to get lost in the heights, we are only stewards.
So we say no to pride in our lives.
May the peace of the Lord be with us.
In the name of Jesus
