David was a man of war, he wasn’t there to waste his time and that of others, he was a pragmatic man, if things don’t work, he cuts off heads, he stays calm.
David was a soldier who defended the interests of his God and those of his country.
But we also have situations where the psalmist has been conciliatory.
One day, David with his men are in the desert of Paran, they protected the sheep of Nabal, nothing happened to them.
Nabal was a very rich man, David and his guys got hungry and they went to the rich man to ask for a favor.
Nabal in his madness, in his insolence refused despite being reminded of the good they had done.
Also, Nabal was rich and he was aware that David was not only the next king of Israel but also the leader of the army but he chose to ignore it and reject David’s request.
David angry, was determined to bring down the house of Nabal and its wealth, the ingratitude of Mr. Nabal was contemptuous for David but something will happen.
Nabal has a wife called Abigail, she is rather the opposite of her husband, she was generous, welcoming, benevolent.
When she heard her husband’s words, she ran to throw herself at David’s feet to beg.
Abigail is aware that her husband is a fool, she takes it upon herself, she justifies her husband’s attitude by the fact that she was not at his post, she takes all the responsibility and imposes peace.
It is not easy to be conciliatory, to give up one’s honor, but David was an authority in which God had invested, one had to take account.
Abigail, very respectful, managed to appease David’s heart and offered him everything he needed.
To stay on topic, Absalom wants to take over the kingship and he decides to put his father’s life in danger.
David is in an uncomfortable situation.
In his complicated situation, shimeï who is from the family of the former king Saul, pronounces curses against him, he makes fun of David who forbids his men to take his life.
The Bible tells us that when the tribulations of King David passed, that the royalty was strengthened, Shimei returned to humble himself at the feet of David who chose to have a conciliatory heart and to let his life be saved.
We don’t get up in the morning, we say we have a reconciling spirit, we become one, we work to achieve it, we let ourselves be broken by the Lord, we let patience take place in our hearts.
2 Timothy 2:24 – Now a servant of the Lord must not quarrel; he must, on the contrary, have condescension for all, be fit to teach, endowed with patience;
Pray to become a conciliator.
As a servant, let us avoid discussions which have no profit, no interest in our lives.
Those who are prone to contention are unfit for teaching.
Let’s be gentle, let’s be able to bring peace where others have failed.
For this, let us endow ourselves with love and patience.
hello to us
Have a good day
