We would like to clarify one thing before telling this story.
Bethlehem means the city of bread, the place of blessing and Moab, the curse, sadness, desolation.
Because of the unfaithfulness of the people, there was a famine in Israel.
There was a family there, Naomie which means gracious, gentle and her husband, Elimelech which means the Lord is my king.
This couple had two children who had their wives.
We want to set the scene first before introducing the topic of the day.
The Bible tells us that this family was quiet in Bethlehem, the land of promise, but because of a difficulty, they went to Moab, a neighboring idolatrous country.
For her, the future was brighter in Moab than in Bethlehem.
Elimelech is the head of the family, his name is attached to his authority which is the Lord, he knows the word of God but he undertakes to leave the promised land without entrusting himself to his God, without humbling himself to know the will of God, all he cares about is running away from problems.
Instead of having the peace, the joy and the provision that they wanted, Naomie who is full of grace and favor will find herself alone, without anything, with a dead husband and son.
What a mess!
What a disaster !
By wanting to find solutions to our problems, we multiply them even more.
Naomie is distraught and she only finds herself with her beautiful foreign daughters whom her sons married out of disobedience to the law.
What are you doing in Moab Naomie?
You are the one who is supposed to bear the grace and share it, but you are the one in the bitterness.
At the slightest opportunity, we flee, we find ourselves in Moab.
As soon as discomfort sets in, we run to take refuge in the arms of the enemy.
We forget that sometimes it is in this inconvenience that the Lord meets us, that he speaks to our hearts.
Naomie has lost everything, she has lost grace in her life and her name is now Mara, sadness.
A woman who had everything, she left Bethlehem rich and prosperous and returned with nothing.
What are ten thousand loaves worth in Moab than one loaf in Bethlehem?
And one day, Naomi hears that the Lord has visited Bethlehem and she returns there.
Do we know why Naomie and Abimelec found themselves in all these problems?
They had no discernment.
Lack of discernment causes us to waver, not to stand firm, not to be courageous.
If they had sat down and consulted the Lord, they would have understood that it is just for a moment but the hand of the Lord covers them.
Lack of discernment causes us to spit on God’s will, lack of discernment allows the devil to steal our identity and enslave us.
Lack of discernment leads us away from understanding the wisdom of God, lack of discernment deteriorates the presence of God.
This is why we are invited for this seventh day to pray for discernment.
It is discernment that allows us to persevere, it is it that keeps us away from temptation, it is always it that allows us to penetrate the world of the spirits in a supernatural way and protects us from excesses.
Ephesians, 4:14 – so that we are no longer children, floating and carried away by every wind of doctrine, by the deceit of men, by their craftiness in the means of seduction,
Pray for discernment.
We are all going to tell ourselves that we are not concerned by this verse, that’s for sure and that our biblical foundations are solid.
Know that Paul’s message calls us to examine ourselves all over again.
The apostle urges us to grow spiritually, in maturity.
Let God work in us and serve the Lord with fear and trembling.
Hello beloved
Have a good day
