When we are given suggestions, do we listen?
When we are given advice, are we grateful for it?
Or do we think we are always right?
Pharaoh considered himself a god and that is why he could not listen to Moses and Aaron.
He enslaved and frustrated the Israelites.
Even when the Lord wanted to bring Israel out of Egypt, Pharaoh opposed it.
According to him, he had the power and no one could stop him from doing what he wanted.
Nebuchadnezzar was a very powerful and wealthy king, who built great monuments and expanded his empire.
He was so proud of his achievements that he thought he was invincible and that no one could defeat him.
When the Lord decided to humble him and punish him for his pride, he put King Nebuchadnezzar into a trance and made him forget his identity.
It was after this trial that he learned to be humble and to recognise that his authority came from God.
Herod, full of himself, coldly killed John the Baptist because he thought he was untouchable and was unable to change his mind, even when he spoke nonsense too quickly.
For Herod, his honour was more important than his conscience, he gave death to John the Baptist just to please the girl who had danced well.
The proud do not like to be put down, they always want to be above, superior to others.
Pride is an inordinate self-confidence, it is having an overly advantageous image of oneself.
The proud person is pretentious, smug…
Many Christians are proud because God has raised them up.
Pastors then, it is serious.
They no longer want to be approached in any way, they no longer have the time to receive the faithful.
How many men of God still bend their knee before the Lord?
How many still lie face down on the ground to implore the grace of the Lord?
They are all on their phones in worship,
They are sitting comfortably in their chairs sometimes even talking to each other.
The Lord is doing us good but is it a reason to be proud?
Let us work on humility,
Humility is acquired over time, it is a process.
We can make a mistake, err and even fail, it is normal.
We are human beings but let us ask the Lord to teach us his humility, let us pray that the Lord will break us and work on our character.
Pride takes us out of our destiny and causes us to disobey the Lord.
Proverbs, 11:2 – When pride comes, so does shame; but wisdom is with the humble.
Pray to banish pride from your life.
Pride has no limit, it leads to exaggeration and excessive behaviour.
Ignominy is shame, disgrace, dishonour.
Pride opens the door to contempt.
But he who knows how to humble himself, who knows how to listen, who knows how to stay in his place, has discernment and knows how to appreciate what comes before him.
Thank you, Lord, for the grace of knowing you.
Keep us away from things that are not of you, Father.
Good morning to all
Good day to you
