The Bible tells us that Anne was traumatised by her problem and by her co-wife, who sat there mocking her and reminding her of her disgrace.
For years she looked for solutions.
She was loved by her husband, Yes.
She was respected and honoured by her husband, Yes.
She had the double portion given by her husband at the time of the sacrifice, Yes.
She had the car she wanted, Yes.
She had the house she wanted, Yes.
She was adorned with accessories and jewels, Yes.
But she wasn’t happy, there was one thing missing to make her joy perfect.
Was Anne a child of God, Yes.
Did she fast and pray for her situation, Yes.
Did she make an offering, yes.
But Anne’s plan to have a child was to prove something to herself,
It was to tell others that she could also be a mother,
It was to silence the whispers and remove the shame from her head.
She had based her joy on sight,
she had based her joy on her environment.
Her plan was carnal, her plan was banal until she realised that as long as her interest was focused on her, she would not be blessed.
As long as she relies on her intimacy with her husband, she will not be satisfied,
her heaven will not be opened.
So she put her pride aside,
she put away her self-righteousness
she melted into humility and abandoned herself into the hands of God.
She had gone beyond the level of pleasing, she had left the gaze of men and she prostrated herself,
she no longer looked at her wealth,
she lay down before God, tore her heart out, opened her heart and made a vow to the Lord.
She decided to make a covenant with the Lord, she made a prophetic business deal with the Father, she negotiated with the one who held the key to all closed doors,
She was ready to honour her deal no matter what it cost her and the Lord looked at her sigh, at the state of her heart.
And Yaya released true joy into this woman’s life,
he renewed her mentality from that day on,
he regenerated all that was fragile and broken in her and he gave her the womb of a young girl.
What is the thing in which we need divine intervention?
What is this project in which the finger of the Lord must act?
Hannah wanted to give birth and she saw God’s need for a prophet.
We want things but God’s house needs touching up and we are inclined to the wrong part.
The blessing we want must be for others,
The financial breakthrough we want must help others,
The promotion we seek must make it easier for others.
The position we want must help others achieve.
Many people should derive assurance, peace and rest from our grace…
Everyone should rejoice in what we have and our generosity should appease others.
Pray that your project/offspring will bring joy to many.
Luke, 1:14 – He will be a cause of joy and gladness to you, and many will rejoice at his birth.
Zechariah and Elizabeth wanted a child and when the Lord looked at the faithfulness of his servants, his blessing gave them the wealth that no one could take from them.
God’s favour has no sorrow,
it only gives peace of mind, faith, trust in God, testimony…
Through them, their son John the Baptist will lead souls to the Lord,
he will baptise souls with water, his message will restore and free many from chains.
Through him, many will repent and return to the Lord.
So, if our project is not for the glory of God, we will always find it hard to enjoy it and truly rejoice.
