We are not saying that we are responsible for the mistakes of others but we are saying that we represent our Lord through our actions for unbelievers and for those who are beginning in the faith. It is not an obligation to take into account our entourage before acting but it is important to apply the law of love which tells us to love our neighbor as ourselves. The Bible warns us not to be a stumbling block for a brother because of our knowledge, because the best knowledge is love. The Christians of Corinth were faced with the problem of consuming meat from animals sacrificed to pagan idols. For some they were afraid of sinning, for others it was deliverance because of their knowledge in the faith. In reality, the consumption or not consumption of meat is not important, this principle should not be limited to meat but that what we eat should not be considered sacred. The behavior of a Christian with knowledge should not be a stumbling block for one who has not reached the same level of knowledge. Let us not take actions that could negatively influence the hearts of those who are watching us. Let us not let pride shatter true knowledge based on respect for others. So let us learn from the intimate relationship with the Lord. In 1 Corinthians, 8: 9 – Beware, however, that your freedom does not become a stumbling block for the weak. Pray against negative impact you may have on anyone. * Beware * = stay awake, lose sleep, be on the lookout, be alerted, be on the lookout, stand guard, observe, spy, consider, stand in expectation, have discernment, be careful, beware. What is good for me is not necessarily good for the other. Our actions must not sadden, frustrate, cause pain or bitterness in the heart of another weak in faith. Our actions can crush, discourage, bring down, cause the loss of my brother. It is a lack of love to ignore our brother’s weakness. The weak have no knowledge and can learn, but the strong sins and lacks love, they still have a lot to learn about God and the Christian life. God gave us the capacity to exert an influence on others, the Samaritan woman knew how to influence an entire village, she was motivated, she had an important message to share and she attracted many to Jesus.
Our freedom must not cause others to stumble in their walk with God.
Even if God allows one thing and it causes someone to sin, let’s give up, let’s avoid.
We are free in Christ but this freedom puts the welfare of our neighbor before our own.
Do not lead others to sin, we must encourage the weak to understand who God is.
To conclude, let us renounce ourselves to edify others, watch out for behaviors that the Bible condemns and let us be in accordance with the word of God.
Hello to us
Have a good day
