Giving hurts
Giving makes you think
Giving makes you cry
Giving is courage
Giving is sacrifice.
You have to die in your flesh to be generous.
Giving is not for children, it is for sons.
David sinned against his God, he counted the people of Israel when he was not qualified.
To redeem himself, he wants to build an altar to the Lord, he wants to make an offering to reconnect with the presence of God.
Ornan is ready to cede a piece of land to David for free since it is for the work of God.
But David declines this offer otherwise it is Ornan who makes the sacrifice because it is his.
David wants to give value to his act, he wants to put a price on his gift so he buys.
And if it was you and me, let’s just imagine.
We had to take this opportunity to spend nothing, we should even take it, disiver it and give only part to the Lord or even find another way out as an offering.
When we read David’s story, we understand that he knew how to honor the Lord so much that he intended to build a house for the Lord.
Might we wonder what this king has invested in the preparations for the house of the Lord?
David, true to the heart, his investment in satisfying the heart of God was not decipherable.
Beloved, we must learn to give, love goes with giving.
We must learn to detach ourselves and trust in the Lord.
How many can sacrifice for their neighbors?
When we make a gesture, it is an opportunity to take pride in ourselves and to wait for the applause.
When we want to give, we are reassured to give our crumbs, we want to keep others behind us.
Let us also understand that the size of our blessing depends on the size of our offering.
Even the world tells us that the supply must always be greater than the demand.
1 Thessalonians, 3:12 – May the Lord increase more and more among you, and towards all, this love which we ourselves have for you,
Pray to grow in your giving.
We evaluate ourselves,
Are we putting our time, our energy, our money at the disposal of others?
Do we share what we have?
Let the Lord add love to our hearts,
Let the Lord fill us with his presence,
May the Father help us accomplish ourselves and teach us to give.
